Lombok Island

Lombok has a different feel from Bali due in part to the Balinese being Hindu while the people of Lombok are predominantly Moslem. Dominated by one of the highest mountains in Indonesia, Lombok Island has a unique charm and is famous for its hand woven textiles, distinctive pottery and miles of undisturbed beaches. Mataram, the island's capital is a quaint town still plied by little pony cart taxis. The island offers the visitor lush mountain forests for trekking, beautiful secluded beaches with magnificent coral reefs and crystal clear water. During festival times, you will see cultural dancers, temple ceremonies and colorful processions.
